School board shocker: CCSD trustee uses offensive, antiquated word to describe black students

Local News

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — On a night when the Clark County School District superintendent met with trustees, parents, and teachers to discuss moving forward within the district in an effort to protect students and make sure the racist threats that affected students at Arbor View High School never happen again,  some in attendance say what one trustee said sent things two steps back.

“There’s two different problems we’re experiencing right now.  One is our lack of safety protocols — the other one is the lack of safety of colored students.”

“Colored students”: That’s what  CCSD Trustee Danielle Ford said as the district was ironically discussing race relations within Clark County schools.

After Ford’s comment, things quickly took a turn and even got heated.
