LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A 62-year-old man is dead after he was struck by a vehicle Monday morning while trying to cross Sahara Avenue near Eastern Avenue.
According to Metro police, the man was running across Sahara around 4: 10 a.m. when he lost his footing and fell into the path of a Toyota driven by a 69-year-old driver. The driver stayed at the scene and didn’t display any signs of impairment.
The injured man was transported to Sunrise Hospital where he died from his injuries.
Sahara Avenue was closed in both directions at Eastern for several hours while police investigated the scene.
This is the 87th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction for 2021.
