LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Hundreds of RTC bus drivers voted overwhelmingly Friday morning to reject the latest contract offer and authorize a strike vote.

After a 24 hour period, we successfully voted to authorize a strike vote. Congratulations to all 602 members who turn(ed) out to cast their votes. We achieved the 66% we needed.

RTC workers cite safety concerns following several recent violent incidents on local buses including multiple shootings and a murder. Workers are seeking better pay and increased safety while on the job.

RTC contracts with Transdev to provide bus service across southern Nevada. Transdev said in a statement there’s been no formal strike notification, and that it remains at the table bargaining in good faith.

The RTC provided nearly 41 million bus rides in fiscal year 2022
