UPDATE: 1 man dies following crash at Desert Inn & Jones

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — One man is dead and another is seriously injured following a crash at Desert Inn & Jones. The crash happened on the morning of February 3.

The rollover crash happened before 6:30 a.m. and involved two vehicles. According to Metro’s report, a Volkswagen Jetta driven by 86-year-old Bernard Judis was attempting to turn left from eastbound Desert Inn Road to northbound Jones Boulevard when it turned in front and into the path of a Ford Edge.

The Ford Edge was driven by 55-year-old Jay Getchell.

Metro says the front of the Ford collided with the right front of the Volkswagen which caused both vehicles to end up in the northwest corner of the intersection. The Ford struck the curb and rolled over onto its left side.

Getchell was not restrained at the time of the crash and received significant injuries. The 55-year-old was transported to the hospital.

Judis was also transported to UMC Trauma with life ­threatening injuries. He later succumbed to those injuries and was pronounced dead on Wednesday, Feb. 5.

Metro does not believe impairment was a factor in this crash. The crash is still under investigation.
