LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Red Rock Canyon’s Scenic Drive was closed all of Thursday and announced it will open on a delay Friday morning at 9 a.m. Despite the closure, several people made it up to see the snow.
The Scenic Loop was closed to drivers Thursday, Dec. 26, due to safety concerns related to snowfall and low visibility. There was snow and ice on the road.
Local officials asked drivers to please use caution on State Route 159. Most of the folks who decided to make the trek out took photos and threw snowballs at the outlook nearby.
The traffic leading up to Red Rock wasn’t bad during the day and into the evening hours. Most people merely stopped by, preventing any congestion.
Though it has stopped snowing, the roads are still slick. It is wet on the ground, so it’s important to drive slow wherever you are.
