Power outage in Mesquite and Overton could last several hours

Update 9:30 p.m.:The majority of customers in the service territory are back on, however, there are still customers off in Mesquite and Bunkerville, NV. 

Update 12:30 p.m.: Work crews has restored power to the Mesquite Fire Department, Mesquite Police Department, Mesa View Regional Hospital, Walmart and Flying J gas station. They continue to work to restore all services.

A fire impacting a transmission power line is causing a system-wide power outage that is affecting Mesquite, Overton, Logandale, Moapa and Bunkerville. In all, around 16,000 customers are impacted.

Although the fire has been contained, a power pole must be replaced, according to Overton Power District No. 5. 

The repairs are complex and could take several hours because it involves a high-voltage transmission line.
