Metro Police say there was no criminal intent involved in a case where three children reported a man attempted to lure them into his vehicle at Richard Bryan Elementary School Tuesday morning.

According to a Metro news release, the man was interviewed by police and he said he overhead the children talking about being late to school, as he was returning home from dropping his own child off at school. He told police, he offered to give the children a ride to school.

The three students involved in the case refused to get into the man’s vehicle.

The incident caused a scare at the school and parents were notified of the incident.

Police did say, while there was no criminal intent on the part of this person, and the students did the right thing. It is imperative that parents have a discussion with their children about not getting into cars with strangers.
