LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Clark County Coroner identified Jeffrey David Lobel, 51, and Cecilia I. Apolo, 55, as the married couple found dead following an apparent murder-suicide at a Summerlin apartment. Lobel’s death was ruled a suicide, caused by an intra-oral gunshot wound. Apolo’s death was ruled a homicide, caused by a gunshot wound of the head.
Police received a call from a person out of state who said they hadn’t heard from their parents in over a week.
Around 11 a.m. on Feb. 27, officers arrived at the Falling Water Apartments, located near Town Center and Summerlin Parkway, to conduct a welfare check.
Police noticed an odor coming from the apartment and found two bodies, Lobel and Apolo. Both were found with gunshot wounds to their heads.
Officials noted Apolo had been dead “for at least a couple days,” prior to Lobel killing himself.
The couple had been struggling with financial and medical problems, Metro Homicide Lt. Ray Spencer detailed in a news conference Saturday afternoon.
He also said there were no prior domestic violence issues between the couple in the last 10 years.
