Coroner identifies homeowner killed in backyard in east Las Vegas valley neighborhood

UPDATE: The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Joel Damian-Marin, 48, from Las Vegas. He died of a gunshot wound of the torso. The coroner ruled this as a homicide.

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Las Vegas police are investigating a homicide on the far east side of the valley in a gated community.

Metro police said the homicide was reported around 12:54 a.m. in the 3300 block of Denali Preserve Street, near Hollywood Boulevard and E. Desert Inn Road.

The investigation by the LVMPD Homicide Section indicates that the victim was awakened by dogs barking. The victim stepped outside into the backyard where he was shot by an unknown suspect.

This is an ongoing investigation

The identification of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
