LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Police are investigating a deadly shooting Monday at a motel west of the Las Vegas Strip.

According to Metro Police, the shooting happened just before 10 a.m. at the Motel 6 located in the 5000 block of Dean Martin Drive, south of Russell Road, near Oquendo Road.

Officers were responding to the motel to investigate reports of shots fired and when they arrived at the scene, they found a man dead from a gunshot wound on an upstairs balcony.

Metro Lt. Ray Spencer said two men were seen running from the scene. One of them has been detained by police and they are looking for the other man.

He said the victim arrived at the motel in a Black Dodge Magnum

“When he arrives at the motel, he walks upstairs to the actual room and at that point there’s a confrontation between the deceased and somebody inside the room,” said Lt. Ray Spencer. “Why he showed up at the motel is what we’re trying to figure out.”

He said officers are going through the motel’s surveillance video for more clues as to what occurred.

He is urging anyone with information to contact Metro’s Homicide Section at (702) 828-3521 or by email at homicide@lvmpd.com. To remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
