LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Metro police are investigating an early Monday morning homicide in the northeast valley.

According to police, there was a shooting at an apartment complex on 1700 Marion Drive near Owens Avenue and Lamb Boulevard just after 4 a.m.

The victim, 26-year-old Timothy Johnson, was transported to UMC Trauma, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said Johnson had been outside with friends when he walked away toward a basketball court. His friends heard several gunshots moments later and found him suffering from apparent gunshot wounds at the court.

According to police, Johnson and the suspect were involved in an argument before Johnson started to chase the suspect. The suspect then shot him during the chase.

The suspect ran from the scene shortly after, police said.

No other details have been released.
