LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Nevada State Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened Friday morning in the southeast valley.

According to police, at around 10:15 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 25, the Nevada State Police received calls about a crash involving a tractor-trailer and a white RAM cargo van. Police said the crash happened on the US95 northbound, south of East Russell Road.

Police said the tractor-trailer was driving slowly on US95 because of heavy traffic in the area. The driver of the white van failed to decrease speed and hit the back of the trailer.

According to NSP, the driver of the white van succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the tractor-trailer sustained minor injuries.

NSP said that all travel lanes were closed while police investigated and that traffic was being diverted off of Galleria Drive. As of 3:45 on Friday, all lanes were open.

“We cannot stress the importance of paying full attention while driving,” Nevada State Police said in a statement. “Nothing is more important than your life. Drive safe Nevada.”

This is a developing story.
