LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A bicyclist was killed Friday morning when he was hit by a truck on Charleston Boulevard.
According to Metro police, the crash was reported around 8:13 a.m. on Charleston Boulevard at Scholl Drive, just east of Rainbow Boulevard.
Police said that the crash happened when a 1999 Ford F-450 work truck tried to pass the bicyclist, who was in the right travel lane on Charleston.
The bicyclist was hit and ejected from the bicycle, and collided with a stopped Toyota Tundra.
The bicyclist was transported to UMC Trauma, but was pronounced deceased there by staff.
The bicyclist’s death marks the 51st traffic-related fatality in the LVMPD’s jurisdiction in 2022.
Charleston was closed to traffic for around five hours while police investigated the crash.
