LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man darting through stopped traffic on West Flamingo Road in the southwest valley early Friday was critically injured when he was hit by a car, police said.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police say they are investigating the crash after the man was taken to UMC Trauma with life-threatening injuries.

The man was crossing south to north at around 8:40 a.m. outside of the crosswalk and west of South Rainbow Boulevard, police said in a news release.

Witness statements and surveillance video indicate Kaylah Taylor, 26, of Las Vegas, was approaching the intersection — driving a 2008 Toyota Corolla east on Flamingo, just west of Rainbow and in a left-turn lane — when she hit the man, who had “darted through stopped traffic and entered the Toyota’s path of travel,” police said.

The pedestrian ran into the front right side of the Toyota, police said.

Taylor remained at the scene and did not show signs of impairment, police said.
