“Operation Star” led to 135 arrests during the three-week operation.
The U.S. marshals are always looking for fugitives, but they say what’s different about operation is more than 20 agencies came together at once and fugitives, sex offenders, and known gang members were targeted.
The I-Team was given access as teams searched for fugitives. A lot of surveillance goes into these operations before any arrests are made.
During this federal operation, there was even a mobile command center set up at Metro police headquarters which was used as the main base for the agencies to work together and share information.
“The detectives work very hard in all the different agencies, detectives and agents from the federal agencies, detectives from the local police departments to put together cases and behind every case is a victim somewhere waiting for somebody to be brought to justice,” said U.S. Marshal Gary Schofield.
Authorities seized 14 firearms and 4.4 pounds of various drugs.
