Surveillance video captured a group of men following a 12-year-old girl walking to school on Wednesday.
“Am I ever going to see my family again? What’s going to happen? I really hope I don’t get taken. You never know what’s going to happen,” said the 12-year-old girl.
In the video, a late-model 1990s white Ford followed the girl as she runs away.
“The way we raised both of our children was to be aware, check your surroundings, look all around at all times, especially in public,” said Clifford Hall, the victim’s father.
The 12-year-old said there were several men in the car and one of them had a metal pole. The men started to trail her at the intersection of Cactus Ave. and Jones Blvd.
“I was really, really, really scared. Like, I’ve never been so scared in my entire life,” 12-year-old added.
The girl called her parents immediately.
“My mother was like ‘it’s okay’, just run if you have to,” she said. “When I turned around and looked, they were right behind me so I ran really, really fast until I got to the school grounds.”
Though the girl was able to escape, police want to know who was in the white truck.
“We’re just very glad the way it turned out and you know it could have went a different way which would have been very bad,” said Hall.
