LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Metro police have detained two people in a fatal shooting Saturday at a 7-Eleven gas station near the Arts District.

Police responded to a call around 4 p.m. for a shooting at 1601 W. Oakey Blvd., near Western Avenue and east of Interstate 15.

A couple arrived at the gas station, and a woman, 35, left the vehicle briefly to go inside the store, police said.

While she was away her boyfriend, 42, got into an argument with a homeless man. During the argument, the homeless man stabbed the boyfriend, producing minor wounds.

The woman exited the gas station and witnessed the stabbing, prompting her shoot the homeless man, police said

Police arrived at the scene to find that the couple had left. The couple were then detained by police on the I-15.

The victim, 28, was transported to UMC where he was pronounced dead, police said.
