UPDATE: Suspect dies after officer-involved shooting near Charleston, Mojave Road

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man is dead after an officer-involved shooting in the east valley Tuesday night, according to Las Vegas police.

It happened around 8:15 p.m. in the 3000 block of East Charleston Boulevard, near Mojave Road.

Officers were called to reports of a man shooting from his apartment. When police arrived on scene, they say the man fired at least one round and ran back into his unit.

As officers tried to secure the apartment, they say the suspect came out with a gun.

“At this time, officers fired on the suspect striking him. Officers then attempted to render medical aid, however, he succumbed to injuries and as pronounced dead on scene by medical personnel,” LVMPD Captain Yasenia Yatomi stated in a video briefing.

This is LVMPD’s fourth officer-involved shooting of 2021.

They will release more information and body-cam video within 72 hours.
