UPDATE: Investigators have identified the motorcyclist killed on Saturday as Ronald James Choyce Jr., 32, of Las Vegas, citing his cause of death as blunt force injury of the head, chest, and pelvis, and motor vehicle collision. Investigators have deemed the incident an accident.
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — North Las Vegas police are investigating a crash that killed a motorcyclist near the West Las Vegas Library.
On Saturday, officers responded to a report of a crash at west Lake Mead Boulevard and Englestad Street intersection, police said.
According to police, a silver Yamaha R1 motorcycle was traveling westbound on Lake Mead Boulevard when a silver Toyota SUV was traveling eastbound. The Toyota made a left turn in front of the motorcycle causing the motorcycle to crash into the passenger side of the Toyota.
The motorcyclist, believed to be in his early 30s, was ejected from the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The driver of the Toyota remained at the scene. Speed and impairment are not believed to be factors at this time, police said.
According to RTC, Lake Mead Boulevard was closed in both directions between Revere Street and Losee Road.
