Nevada Highway Patrol troopers released the names of the two people killed in the crash on Interstate 11 Tuesday. It happened on I-11 northbound at U.S.93 near the Hoover Dam Lodge exit.

Both victims, 63-year-old Christopher S. Levo and 64-year-old Steve Mindy of Milford, Ohio, were traveling on the road in a Buick Encore.

According to NHP’s preliminary investigation, on Tuesday at approximately 9:43 a.m. for reasons unknown to investigators, a white 2018 Buick Encore was traveling southbound on northbound I-11, so the vehicle was going the wrong way, when at some point, it approached a gray 2007 Ford Ranger traveling northbound directly in front of the Buick.

To avoid hitting each other, both drivers steered their vehicles towards the inside shoulder of the road. However, the front of the Buick struck the front of the Ford.

Both vehicles then continued west until they ran into the concrete median barrier wall, according to NHP.  The Buick then caught fire.

Levo was transported to Sunrise Hospital where he died of the injuries sustained in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Mindy died from his injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both people in the Ford were taken to St. Rose Sienna Hospital. There’s no word on their condition.

This is the 41st fatal in NHP’s Southern Command’s jurisdiction.
