LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Neighbors: Woman knew man who tried to protect her before deadly shooting near Eastern and DI

Metro Police said a total of three people were shot Thursday after a domestic disturbance outside a home in the 3200 block of Silver Saddle Street.  Everything unfolded in the neighborhood near Eastern and Desert Inn Road around 12:30 p.m.

Two people died from their injuries, police said. One man was taken to the hospital.

While Metro homicide detectives are working to piece things together, local neighbors have chimed in, saying there’s more to the story.

One neighbor reported hearing around six gunshots ring out.  A few other neighbors say the woman knew the men who were standing outside of the house. They said she lived there.

Police say the woman and another man were arguing inside their car in the 3200 block of Silver Saddle Street when the woman walked up to a home where there were two men in front of the house and asked them to hold her 1-year-old child.

The woman’s argument with the man escalated, and he pulled out a handgun, police said.  Metro Police said that’s when one of the men who was standing in front of the house got a rifle from his home and came back outside to try to protect the woman.

The man with the handgun shot the woman, so the man with the rifle then shot the man with the handgun. However, police said it’s not clear if he killed him or if he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to neighbors, the man killed today is the woman’s ex.  A few witnessed first responders putting the woman in an ambulance, while seeing a man lying on the sidewalk outside the home on Silver Saddle.

Many are still trying to process this deadly shooting taking place so close to their homes.

“It’s very alarming to know that something like this, so tragic happened so close to where you live,” said Genesis Luduena, neighbor.

Police have not confirmed the number of shots fired.
