UPDATE: Suspect shot by officer after ramming several patrol vehicles with U-Haul truck

Local News

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — At approximately 8:53 p.m. on Aug. 7, LVMPD officers observed a U-Haul pick-up truck that had evaded them a few days prior. The truck was parked in front of a convenience store located in the 3600 block of Paradise Road.

Officers attempted to conduct a vehicle stop at which point the suspect put his truck in reverse ramming the marked patrol unit. The suspect then put his vehicle in drive, jumped over a curb striking a second patrol vehicle that was attempting to assist in the car stop.

An officer that was in the patrol vehicle that was initially rammed, exited his vehicle and fired multiple rounds striking the suspect who continued to drive north on Paradise Road at a high rate of speed.

The suspect eventually stopped when he struck two citizen vehicles at the intersection of Paradise Road and Karen Avenue. The suspect then exited his vehicle and ran from the scene. After a short foot pursuit, he was taken into custody and was transported to Sunrise Hospital where he was treated for his injury.

This is the 12th officer-involved shooting of 2019.
