UPDATE 1/16/21: Metro Police have arrested 18-year-old Zyonn Dawson in connection with this homicide investigation. Dawson has been charged with open murder.
UPDATE: The man who was shot and killed on Jan. 8 has been identified as Jose Jesus Santa Cruz, 32. The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified Cruz as a Las Vegas man, and determined he died of a gunshot wound to the torso. The shooting has been ruled a homicide.
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Metro Police are investigating a fatal shooting in the east valley near Charleston and Lamb boulevards.
Metro Lt. Richard Meyers of the Sex Crimes Section says a call came into 911 around 6:49 p.m. reporting gunshots being fired in the 4700 block of East Charleston. He noted simultaneously, Metro’s ShotSpotter activation occurred in the same area.
When officers arrived, they found the victim in a parking lot in the area. He was transported to UMC, where he was pronounced deceased.
Meyers says the initial investigation revealed a Black male adult was seen running from the area when the shots rang out. There is currently not a clothing description.
