LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Three children are without parents following a shooting at an apartment complex in south Las Vegas.

According to Las Vegas Metropolitan police, the shooting is an apparent murder-suicide and happened just before 8 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of East Starr Avenue near Bermuda Road in the Vista Apartment Homes.

Metro Lt. Jason Johansson said a caller told police a garage door was open and the body of a man could be seen on the ground.

“Numerous witnesses reported hearing what they believe were two gunshots,” he said.

When officers responded, Johansson said they found the man with blood around his head, and further into the garage they found a woman. Both were unresponsive and suffered from gunshot wounds.

Officers then entered the apartment and found three young children.

“Thankfully the three of them are unharmed,” Johansson said. “It’s a very tragic case where we have three juveniles that are now without their mother and their father.”

He said the couple was in their 30s and some residents told police they heard them arguing prior to the gunshots. Their identities will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.
