UPDATE: Officers involved in Oct. 27 shooting at convenience store identified

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Metro Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting near North Pecos Road and Carey Avenue in the northeast Valley.

According to police, the incident occurred Tuesday around 11:30 p.m. at a convenience store on North Pecos Road, near East Carey Avenue.

Police said they learned a suspect involved in a shooting that happened earlier Tuesday worked at the convenience store. Police said the man initially complied with their verbal commands but suddenly pulled a handgun from his waistband. Officers fired, striking the suspect several times. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

This is the 17th officer-involved shooting of 2020. Per Metro’s policy, the identity of the officers involved wasn’t immediately released. The officers have now been identified as:

  • Sergeant Steven Perry – 52, has been employed with the LVMPD since 1999. He is assigned to the Gangs Vice Bureau, Investigative Services Division
  • Detective Eric Stafford – 35, has been employed with the LVMPD since 2008. He is assigned to the Gangs Vice Bureau, Investigative Services Division
  • Detective Solon McGill – 41, has been employed with the LVMPD since 2013. He is assigned to the Gangs Vice Bureau, Investigative Services Division
  • Detective Julien Pappas – 31, has been employed with the LVMPD since 2014. He is assigned to the Gangs Vice Bureau, Investigative Services Division

The officers involved in the shooting are on routine administrative leave.
