LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Metro Police are investigating after a deadly shooting in the 2900 block of Marlin Avenue, near Eastern Avenue and Stewart Avenue.
According to Metro Lt. Ray Spencer, dispatchers received several 911 calls at about 6:20 indicating that a man had been shot.
Once police arrived on the scene, they found a black male in his early 30s suffering from one gunshot wound. That man was taken to UMC Trauma where he was pronounced dead.
After talking to witnesses, police learned the shooting happened following an argument between several neighbors. Police say the suspect, a black woman in her 30s, confronted a neighbor, leading to an argument.
The argument escalated to a physical fight, during which the woman pulled a gun and shot the victim.
Neighbors then attacked the woman and wrestled the gun away from her. She then got in her car and fled the scene.
The suspect left her two children at the scene. Police are now working with Child Protective Services. Lt. Spencer said the children are now in their possession.
Through the preliminary investigation, police have learned there have been ongoing disputes between the neighbors at apartment complex. Most of the arguments have been sparked by a barking dog.
Metro Police urge anyone who may have information about the suspect’s whereabouts to call Crime Stoppers.
