Metro Police arrested a man Wednesday in connection with a body that was found earlier this month in Nye County.

According to authorities, on March 1, Nye County deputies were called to the intersection of U.S. 95 and NV-373 to investigate reports of a body found in the area.  When deputies arrived at the scene they found a dead man lying on the side of the road.

Through the course of the investigation, LVMPD homicide detectives and Nye County Sheriff detectives were able to locate a possible suspect who was later identified as 33-year-old Cristobal Ortiz-Hernandez.

According to detectives, Ortiz-Hernandez had an altercation with the man at a home located in the 7600 block of License Street. The fight ended with death.  The victim’s body was then taken to Nye County and left on the side of the road.

Ortiz-Hernandez was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center where he faces a charge for open murder.
