UPDATE: A North Las Vegas man who was killed in a shooting Friday night has been identified as Gerald Meeks, 26, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office. (Original story appears below:)

NORTH LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — North Las Vegas Police say one person is dead following a shooting near Carey Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard Friday night.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. in the 2000 block of Lawry Avenue.

Officers received a call about an injured person in the area. When they arrived on scene, officers located a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

To help protect the integrity of the case, police say suspect or arrest information is not available at this time.
