LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — On September 18 at approximately 6:33 p.m., Las Vegas Metropolitan Police patrol officers were dispatched to investigate a man down in an apartment complex located on W. Lake Mead Blvd., near N. Jones Boulevard.
Officers who arrived at the The Crossings at Lake Mead Apartments were directed to a male who had suffered from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Family and friends are mourning the loss. His mother identified him as 32-year-old Randall Wallace. She held a vigil Sunday night to remember him.
“I want justice for my son,” said his mother, Yolanda Wallace. “Whoever the coward is that did this, I don’t want them dead, but I want them to sit in there and do some time because I don’t think they could do it.”
A homicide section investigation indicates the man was in an argument prior to the shooting with three unidentified suspects. This is an ongoing investigation.
His aunt Dorothy describing him as a happy individual who always wanted the best for those around him. “I’m going to miss him coming to my house at 6 o’clock in the morning, just wanting to talk before he went to work,” said Dorothy Smith. “He was fun, and he was full of life.”
As family and friends gathered, candles were lit, and a blanket was signed by loved ones surrounded by pictures of Wallace. The vigil ended with a balloon release in his memory.
“My best friend and my ride or die; He didn’t deserve this,” said Wallace. “We grew up together and he has seen me go through my ups and downs. I didn’t only lose a son; I lost a friend.”
