DAYTON, Nev. (AP) — A suspect has been arrested in a hit-and-run accident that killed a 59-year-old Dayton man and five dogs he was walking when they were struck by a driver who fled the scene.
The Nevada Highway Patrol says 38-year-old James Parisi of Dayton was arrested late Thursday in connection with the death of Michael Kuntz.
Kuntz was walking the dogs along Six Mile Canyon Road on the north edge of Dayton just before 7 a.m. Thursday when a vehicle crossed over the center of the road and hit them.
The patrol says numerous tips from the public to NHP and Lyon County sheriff’s deputies helped lead authorities to Parisi.
He was being held Friday at the Lyon County Jail. Formal charges are pending.
It’s not clear if Parisi has a lawyer or will be appointed one.
