Man arrested for stabbing, killing man near Sunset and Bermuda after altercation

Metro Police investigating a stabbing in a business park at the 6800 block of Bermuda Road. The area is near E. Sunset Road and Bermuda Road.

At around 5 p.m., the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Sheyland Barnett, went into a business and got into an argument with a female employee, the Barnett ended up leaving the business a short time later.

According to police, the woman then called her cousins, one man and one woman, to walk her out to her vehicles as a safety precaution.

As they left, the Barnett returned to the area and got into an altercation with the cousins. The woman’a male cousin was stabbed multiple times. The female cousin was stabbed as well. They both were taken to University Medical Center. The male cousin died from his injuries.

The female cousin suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police caught up with the suspect, Barnett, at Henderson hospital.  He had injuries consistent with a stabbing and is now in police custody.
