The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Foundation held its 5th Annual Cops & Canvas Art Auction Fundraiser at 6 p.m. on March 28. This gallery styled viewing, silent and live auction showcases all forms of art, from paintings and sculptures to poetry and photography, all created by the outstanding LVMPD officers, their family members and the community who supports them.

Funds raised from Cops & Canvas directly support community safety programs, fundraising for the construction of the Reality Based Training Center in Southern Nevada and much more.

This year,  featured artist Linda Alterwitz donated an art piece for auction from the series Desert Project, along with other professional artists who are donating their pieces in honor of our LVMPD heroes with a personal statement of support to be displayed at the event near each of their pieces.  Also, LVMPD Detective Darryl McDonald was honored for his artistic contributions to the community. Last year, Detective McDonald’s “58 Rose”, which was inspired by and dedicated to the victims of the 1 October tragedy, was the highest selling item of the night.
