The early years in the National Football League were certainly exciting and even more so when the American Football League and NFL merged.
Las Vegan Gary Plumlee remembers it all, who was drafted by the N.Y. Jets out of New Mexico in 1965. The time lime was the same year and team that also drafted Joe Namath. The 1965 draft featured four Hall of Famers in Namath, Gale Sayers, Dick Butkus and Fred Biletnikoff. Gary Plumlee opened camp with Namath and was there when the star quarterback got his nickname.
