Local clinic raises awareness on brain health

Local News

The Cleveland Clinic in Downtown Las Vegas is a non-profit, raising awareness about brain health, but also offering free social services, like music therapy.

Michael Bennet is a caregiver, and said he learned to use music for his mother who has Alzheimer’s,”I would’ve never known that music had that effect on her until somebody told me to try music. So I bought her this radio that I put on the patio, and she stares at the airplanes. She actually talks to the airplanes, but the music… She’ll start singing and I just let her go.”

The Cleveland Clinic also has support groups, weekly education sessions, ongoing courses, and a free library.

The foundation that helps fund that, Keep Memory Alive, has it’s fundraiser on March 16th. The ‘Power of Love Gala’ also helps fund research.

Alzheimer’s is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States, killing more than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined.
