LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A large plume rose in the sky over southeast Las Vegas Friday morning after a fire started near the Royal Links Golf Club.

According to Clark County Fire Department received multiple calls about the fire around 6:41 a.m. The fire was reported in the 5900 block of E. Vegas Valley Drive, east of Nellis Boulevard.

A truck, five engines, a rescue, a Battalion Chief and the Air Resource unit were dispatched to the scene with a total of almost 30 firefighters. Fire crews were able to get ahead of the vegetation fire and keep it contained to a small area. No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters want to remind everyone of the excessive temperatures this weekend and to take extra care with anything that could start a fire.

The fire crews are keeping watch over the area to extinguish any hot spots.
