LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Community members joined hands Friday night around the Route 91 Harvest festival grounds Friday to remember the 1 October shooting.
Every year, survivors gather at the site and form a human chain around the venue. Friday night, a couple hundred 1 October survivors, loved ones, and community members gathered.
The site of the shooting, across the Strip from Mandalay Bay, remains an important area for people who live every day with memories of the shooting that claimed 60 lives — 58 who died the night of Oct. 1, 2017, and two more who died of injuries tied to the shooting in years since.
It was very emotional for many of them to come back to the place where this all happened.
Survivors continue to lean on each other and the community has proven to be Vegas stronger.
