LAS VEGAS (KLAS)– A man accused of stabbing his mother to death is identified as 34-year-old Pablo Enrique Bonilla, according to court records.

He was due to make his first appearance in court Thursday morning but was not transported. He remains in jail and is due to appear in court on Sept. 20.

The stabbing occurred on Wednesday in an apartment in the 2900 block of Juniper Hills Boulevard, near Nellis Boulevard and E. Vegas Valley Drive.

Police said a 911 call was made just after 11 a.m. by a man who claimed to be the suspect’s brother. He said his brother was inside the apartment with his mother, and that he was acting erratic and armed with a knife.

According to police, the brother said Bonilla was threatening to kill their mother if she tried to leave.

Arriving officers evacuated neighboring apartments while the two were inside arguing. Police said shortly after, a man exited the apartment carrying two knives and was covered in blood.

According to police, Bonilla was taken into custody without incident. Officers then entered the apartment where they found an unresponsive woman in her 70s with stab wounds. Arriving medical personnel pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

The victim’s identity has not been released. It will be released by the coroner’s office.

Police said the suspect will be booked in the Clark County Detention Center and will face open murder charges with an enhanced charge because of the victim’s age.
