LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man hit by a car when he was walking outside a marked crosswalk on Las Vegas Boulevard North near East Washington Avenue has died from his injuries, Metro police said Saturday.
The man, 58, was taken to University Medical Center after being struck at about 6 p.m. Thursday, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said in a news release.
Police said a 2006 Nissan Altima driven by Samara Howell, 44, of Las Vegas, was traveling north on Las Vegas Boulevard North in the left two lanes and the man was crossing the roadway, walking east, north of East Washington Avenue, when the car “struck the left side of the pedestrian.”
Police said Howell stayed at the scene and “did not show any indication of impairment.”
The crash is being investigated by Metro’s collision investigation section. The man’s death is the 141’st traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year, police said.
A portion of the intersection was blocked off while police investigated the incident.
