LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Las Vegas Metropolitan police officer shot a man Tuesday night in a neighborhood near the UNLV campus.

Police said officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of E. Harmon Avenue near Maryland Parkway around 10:34 p.m. for a report of a man armed with a knife.

According to Metro Captain Joshua Martinez “The male charged at officers. The officer discharged his duty weapon striking the suspect, the suspect was taken into custody and medical attention was provided.”

The injured man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and is in stable condition, Martinez said. No officers were injured.

Per Metro’s policy, police will release the officer’s name in 48 hours and additional information on the shooting within 72 hours.
