LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The opportunity of a lifetime — that is how a Las Vegas local described what it was like to be on Jeopardy!
“It was a feeling, like it’s an opportunity of a lifetime. I’ve wanted to do this ever since I was a little girl watching Jeopardy, and I’m so glad I finally got to actually be here and got to be on the same stage with Alex.”
Jamelle Shannon was the latest in what’s becoming a fairly long line of local contestants, and she definitely thought about one of those players who came before her who found a lot of success in answering the questions — James Holzhauer.
“Absolutely. It kind of feels like a greater responsibility to try and do just as well,” Shannon said.
While we will have to wait until Friday night to find out how she did, Shannon said the highlight of the entire experience for her had to do with one all-star host.
“Once again, meeting Alex like that, that was the biggest thing. I’ve watched the show since I was a little girl and he’s always been the host, and so it’s been a big thing to be able to see and meet him,” Shannon said. “It was better than I could’ve ever imagined, actually. He was so fantastic and so warm and it was everything I could’ve imagined.”
If you are watching this and think you’d like to try out, Shannon has some advice for you.
“Absolutely, definitely try out. Watch Jeopardy because that’s probably the biggest thing that will help because it will be such a diverse array of clues,” Shannon said. “You can’t study one thing so it’s always better to have your fake buzzer with you and pretend to buzz along with the show.”
