Las Vegas District Court Judge arrested for battery domestic violence

Local News

A Las Vegas District Court Judge found herself on the wrong side of the law recently.

Judge Stefanie Miley faces a domestic battery violence charge from a Dec. 23 arrest.  Miley is accused of striking her adult son whose name wasn’t released.

Court records reveal she is in the middle of a contentious divorce with her husband of more than 20years.  He too was arrested on domestic violence charges nearly 10 years ago.

Edward Miley is a Las Vegas attorney.

Miley next court date is set for Jan. 22.  Her attorney David Chesnoff released the following statement:

“We are pleased to be assisting Judge Miley who intends on vigorously defending against these mere allegations.”

Last September, Miley’s husband Edward filed for divorce.  In 2009, Miley filed but the couple remained married.  That same year, Edward Miley was accused of choking the family dog and slamming the animal against a mirror, before hitting his wife when she tried to intervene.

8 News Now reported then that the dog had to be put to sleep.

Judge Stefany Miley is the judge responsible for reversing Kirsten Lobato’s murder conviction, and she was critical of the Metro Police Department’s refusal to release records related to the 1 October shooting massacre.

The I-Team reached out to a spokesperson for the court to see if there was any word on the status of Judge Miley’s job on the bench following her arrest, and she said, “we are not commenting.”
