More information has been revealed about an inmate accused of leading officers on a chase while trying to escape police custody. A Metro Police officer shot Gregory Ganci after he stole a truck while trying to flee.
The I-Team dug into his past and learned that the 52-year-old had an extensive criminal record. Ganci was scheduled for a sentencing hearing for having a gun as a felon. A separate jury trial was also set for him to face charges of kidnapping and robbery charges, and after Wednesday’s incident, he’s expected to face more charges.
Ganci was convicted in California for the following crimes:
- Stealing a car in 1995
- Theft in 1998
- Evading in 2000
- Felony charge in possession of a firearm in 2002
- Possession of a controlled substance in 2006, 2012, and 2013
- Force with use of a deadly weapon in 2008
The I-Team also found out that Gregory Ganci sometimes goes by Christopher Ganci as well.
As for the upcoming jury trial that was already set for Ganci, it’s been scheduled for April. The Clark County District Attorney’s office is prosecuting him as a habitual offender.
