I-Team: Autistic boy will not be able to wear listening device in classroom

Local News

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A hearing master has decided that parents of an autistic and non-verbal student will not be allowed to send their son to school with a listening device.

This is a story the I-Team first told you about.

Six-year-old JJ Wahrer was already hit with a stick by a previous teacher. Issues continued at JJ’s new school, Ferron Elementary, and his parents say they were not being told about them. That’s why the Wahrers want to use the “Angel Sense” listening and GPS device but Clark County School District objected.

A hearing master has ruled that they cannot use  it instead saying the school staff should attend four additional hours of training on dealing with special needs students.

The family can still appeal the decision.
