Late Wednesday night, the Nevada Department of Transportation shut down Interstate 15 northbound between Spring Mountain Road and Sahara Avenue. The area reopened ahead of schedule and lanes were moving as early as 3 a.m.
The closure is part of “The Main Event, which is the third and final phase of work for Project Neon. Workers will install overhead traffic signs.
According to NDOT, Project Neon is about 76 percent finished. It is expected to be done entirely sometime next summer.
The project is a nearly billion dollar 4-mile-long widening of I-15 from the U.S. 95 interchange to Sahara Avenue.
NDOT is asking all drivers to use caution while traveling through the work zone. Also, check alternate routes for detour routes.
Drivers are also encouraged to use the Waze app.
