Southbound I-15 reopens as Metro continues working in northbound lanes in south valley

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Interstate 15 northbound remains closed, but southbound lanes have been reopened at Blue Diamond Road. The closures followed a Metro police response to a barricade situation on the highway.

Police say a person in a vehicle on the northbound lanes just south of the Silverado Ranch overpass is the reason the highway was closed. Police say the subject is in custody and northbound lanes will be reopening shortly.

“Expect heavy delays while we wrap up the scene. This investigation is ongoing,” Metro said.

Tactical units were dispatched to the scene.

Police have released no further information at this time.

RTC of Southern Nevada advises motorists to use alternate routes in a tweet at 1:22 p.m.

There are social media reports that motorists have been instructed to turn around on the highway after I-15 was blocked.

RTC also reports that Silverado Ranch and Cactus Avenue are both blocked at I-15.
