LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Las Vegas Metro police are investigating a homicide of a 29-year-old man near downtown Las Vegas Monday afternoon.

Police were called to a shooting shortly before 2 p.m. to 915 Morgan Avenue near Washington Avenue and J Street.

During a news conference, Metro police Lt. Dave Valenta said the victim and suspect had an altercation before the shooting.

The victim, who did not live in the area, died at the scene. His identity will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

Authorities describe the suspect as a male with dreadlocks.

No other details were immediately available.
