LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A family disturbance at a home in the far southeast part of the Las Vegas valley led to an officer-involved shooting on Tuesday afternoon, according to Henderson police.
Police responded to the 700 block of Vista Sereno Ct. just before noon following reports of a family disturbance involving a suicidal person, Sgt. Julio Delgado said.
When officers arrived, they found a man who produced a long gun and an “exchange of gunfire ensued,” according to Sgt. Delgado.
Officers then repositioned themselves within the house and found the man again, resulting in a second exchange of gunfire, Delgado said.
The man went into the garage and came back out with no weapons before being taken into custody, police said.
Police later noticed smoke coming from inside the home and evacuated neighboring residents while the Henderson Fire Department responded.
Police said they did not know what led to the family disturbance or what the cause of the fire was.
No injuries were reported in the shooting, and two officers were involved, according to police.
Sgt. Delgado said that the investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it is available.
No other details were provided.
