LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Henderson officer-involved shooting left one man dead after he approached officers in a “threatening manner” with a knife, police said.

On Friday around 9:20 p.m. officers responded to the 2000 block of North Green Valley Parkway near Windmill Parkway about a disturbance, police said.

While officers were on the way to the scene, they were advised that a man was inside the residence with a knife vandalizing the residence and cutting himself, according to police.

When officers arrived, they were confronted by the 26-year-old suspect who was holding the knife in a “threatening manner” while approaching officers, police said.

While officers were giving verbal commands to the suspect, he “aggressed” a nearby citizen however, officers were able to regain his attention towards them and away from the citizen.

The suspect continued to approach the officers while refusing to drop the knife and yelling for them to shoot him. Officers attempted to tase the suspect however, the taser was ineffective, police said.

Officers then discharged their weapons, hitting the suspect.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to police.

No officers were injured during this incident.

This is the third officer-involved shooting in the Henderson Police Department’s jurisdiction for 2023.
