Henderson Police shoot, injure burglary suspect near Galleria, US 95

HENDERSON, Nev. (KLAS) — Henderson Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting near the area of Galleria Drive and US 95.

Capt. Kirk Moore of Henderson PD says officers had been conducting surveillance on a known burglary suspect and followed him to a storage facility in the 1000 block of Shufflebeam Avenue.

The suspect ran, and officers chased him. Moore says the suspect then reportedly pulled out a firearm, leading police to shoot. He was struck once and hospitalized.

Police have since identified Officer Eduardo Vega as the officer involved in the shooting. He has been put on paid administrative leave.

No shots were fired by the suspect, and no officers were struck by gunfire. One officer did sustain an injury not related to this incident.

This is the City of Henderson’s first officer-involved shooting of 2021.
