LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — At about 7:50 a.m., members of the Henderson Police Department, Animal Control, and Fire Department responded to the 100 block of Appian Way, near Horizon Drive and I-515, in response to a dog bite incident. 

The preliminary investigation showed a 15-month-old female sustained life-threatening injuries caused by a large breed dog, reported to be a 4-year-old Rottweiler, owned by a family friend. 

The child was transported to Henderson Hospital where the child succumbed to her injuries. Henderson Animal Control Officers took custody of the dog and euthanized the dog at the owner’s request.
